Discovery of Myoglobin

- Myoglobin was initially discovered in 1958, by John Kendrew and his associates.
- This was the first protein to have its three-dimensional structure exposed.
- They successfully determined the structure of Myoglobin using high-resolution X-Ray crystallography.
- Since this important protein has been discovered, many investigators have added to our understanding of its function and regulation.
