Structure of Myoglobin

- Myoglobin is composed of one polypeptide chain of about 153 amino acids.
- There is a prosthetic group in the middle around where the remaining apoprotein folds.
- It consists of one heme molecule containing a single iron molecule attached to one globin chain.
- A hemoprotein which resembles an indivdual subunit of hemoglobin.
- This protein has a molecular weight of 16,700 daltons.
